Accessory knee muscle

Hi again!

I received a handful of responses, none completely certain, but maybe because of the limited number of images I attached. If anyone wants to look through the entire dataset, it is available on the Collective Minds platform, accessible for anyone at this link: https://www.cmrad.com/cases/1287099990

I really want to discard all answers but the one from Hilary: "I’ve searched everything….I think it’s Roar’s muscle".

Case closed!

Actually, these were proposed, and thank you for your kind responses:
– Vastus medialis obliquus (2)
– Medial patellofemoral muscle (3)
– Accessory sartorius (2)

As the muscle actually runs from the medial part of the MPFL and inserts to the femur, I consider VMO and sartorius less likely. The medial patellofemoral muscle should probably run from the patella – as this one doesnt, so could we agree on "The Medial Patellofemoral Muscle – The Roar Pedersen variant"? Thank you!

Enclosed is an article I received from Resnick and Cantarelli – thanks!

All the best!

Roar

Hi everyone!

I found this unusual muscle belly along the medial knee, seems to be a part of the vastus medialis, but I had no luck finding it in the literature – probably not using the right search term. Anyone having a name for this?

Best
Roar
