Axial PDFS images proximal top left to distal bottom right
My question is about the spiraling linear split of the ECU from the level of the distal ulnar metaphysis to the distal carpal row just proximal to the insertion.
In the most proximal image (top left) the tendon looks intact.
Does that mean this is a long split tear of the ECU, with tendon thickening, tenosynovitis or subluxation?
I know that there are 2 heads of the ECU arising from the humerus and ulna and it can be confusing to distinguish the 2 bundles from an actual tear.
Does the fact that it seems intact on the one most proximal image mean this is definitely a tear?
I am not referring to an ECU "psuedo lesion" which is related to artifactual increased intra substance signal without a contour defect…I know this is not a pseudo lesion.
Thanks.
