Dear OCAD scholars,
I would like to know what Semi means.
There are anatomic names of Semimembranosus muscle, Semitendinosus
muscle, Semispinalis capitis muscle and Semispinalis cervicis muscle.
I just wonder what Semi means.
Yours,
Kyung
Hi, semi simply means half in Latin. In the case of Semimembranosus, the upper “half” is flat. In Semitendinosus, the lower half is cord or sinew-like, thus, its name.
HTH!
