The prognosis of the healing of an OCD lesion depends on the skeletal
maturity and the severity of the lesion.
In younger patients with open physis, the prognosis is better.
Causes: traumatic, ischemic, idiopathic and hereditary (multifactorial
etiology).
Failure criteria in the assessment of non-operative treatment:
Skeletal maturity.
OCD in weight-bearing areas.
Size of the lesion.
High signal line demarcating the bone fragment.
Low signal of bone fragment.
Donor defect filled or outlined with high-signal fluid.
