In phase/ out of phase with Dixon with GE and Siemens

Hi fellow MSK colleagues,

I do not have a specific case to share today but am curious as to what people are using for their in phase/out of phase protocols for marrow assessment.

We have both GE and Siemens magnets at my institution. I really like GE’s Dixon Flex option. For example, I can do a T1 Dixon flex sag of the spine that takes only 30 seconds more than a standard T1 spin echo sequence. I then get IP (which can substitute for the T1 spin echo sequence), OP, Fat only, and water only.

On Siemens, however, I can only get all 4 sequences on VIBE, but cannot do this with a TSE dixon sequence. This is per our advanced techs and also local Siemens rep. Additionally, the time difference is much greater between the VIBE (over 3 min) and spin echo T1 (1:50 ish). We already switched to 1 NEX, used acceleration, etc. Trying to see if there is a similar way to get a flex-esque outcome from Siemens like I can get with GE Dixon flex.

Has anyone dropped their regular T1 spin echo sequences on the spine and instead do Dixon? If so, would be interested to hear your experience, which vendor you have and what specific sequences, etc. Please just reply to me only. If the group is interested in a summary, I can send that later to everyone!

Best,
Lauren
