bright signal on the lateral side of bilateral femoral head

17 yrs girl, bilateral buttock pain,i dont know whether the bright signal on the lateral side of bilateral femoral head is meaningful. Is there any special disease on this site for this appearance? It doesnt like impingment. I dont think it is artifact. Thanks!

  1. OCAD

    Hi, dear OCADers,

I didn’t expect to receive so many responses. Thank you so so much! It seems many OCADers have seen similar cases. Actually it is a incident finding. A radiologist in another hospital asked me to have a look at this case. The patient underwent sacroiliac joint MRI examination. So I think no enough information for hip joint. No hip radiography. No axial T2FS with good image quality and enough slice, but I’m sure there is also edema on axial T2FS image. With permission from Dr. Avneesh Chhabra, I attached the video of Instability- Hip dysplasia with same appearance as this case he sent to me.

    Here is the responses:

    failure in fat saturation
    impingement syndrome
    red bone marrow
    osteoarthritis
    Instability- Hip dysplasia
    Best,
    Xianjing
