Avulsion linea aspira?

Thank you all. I suppose the calcific tendinitis in the linea aspera is causing edema in the glut max, adductors and vastus lateralis muscles and eroding into the cortex. I just found a case report with identical findings although it didn’t come up earlier when I looked it up.

I love this forum and I learn so much! Looking forward to continual learning.

Welcome to OCAD! Thank you for posting. I suspect that this is calcific tendinosis of the gluteus maximus insertion with intraosseous extension given the density of the calcification. The pop may have been partial tearing of the tendon itself. Will be interested to see if others agree.

My first post on OCAD! Looking forward to thoughts from the group. My practice is mostly oncology but this sports cases came in today from the hospital emergency room.

43 F with hx of sciatica and deg disc disease. She felt a pop in the back of her left leg 3 days ago descending stairs while holding a heavy object. Seen at another facility 3 days ago where the CT and X-rays were done. Sent home with pain meds. She re-presents with intractable pain and inability to walk. Now pain radiating to left flank and groin.

Thank you!
