The location is typical for erosive change due to synovitis-related thickening of the medial neck plica, aka pectinofoveal fold.
There is evidence of joint effusion and synovitis likely reactive to stage 3 AVN.

I have seen the thickened plica, but never secondary erosion of the femoral neck.
It makes sense.

I really appreciate your assistance!

I’m currently reporting this MRI and would appreciate your thoughts.
There is clearly femoral head AVN with subtle anterosuperior articular flattening and at least mild secondary cartilage thinning.
My question is about the erosion of the anterior femoral neck with cyst-like change / stranding at the site of the erosion.

I have No other imaging….not even an XR.
Which I will request, unless you think CT would be more helpful?

To what do you attribute the erosion and overlying soft tissue changes?
What additional imaging / if anything, do you recommend?

Thank you.
