Hi ocaders, How do you describe this injury? This is a case of a 40 yo man who plays footvolley (a sport combining beach volleyball and soccer, originating in Rio de Janeiro, see the pictures attached). There is a complete detachment of the patellar tendon at the patella and a rupture with delamination of the superficial component of the quadriceps tendon. Additionally, there is a detachment/avulsion of the prepatellar continuation of the quadriceps tendon. Despite these injuries, the extensor mechanism remains in continuity due to the prepatellar quadriceps continuation.
Can we draw a parallel between this injury and a subscapularis tear with an intact transverse humeral ligament?Thanks!
