M 36 years old, knee sprain 30 days ago.
Suspected lateral meniscus injury, which is normal.
Traumatic injury to the proximal tibiofibular joint.
Avulsive rupture of the anterior proximal tibiofibular ligament (ATFL) and the anterior arm of the biceps tendon (ABT) at their tibial insertions. Extensive tibial bone edema.
I decided to add a CT scan for better demonstration, which also demonstrated a small bone avulsion next to the fibular insertion of the posterior proximal tibiofibular ligament (PTFL).
Biceps tendon and lateral collateral ligament normally attached to the head of the fibula.
Second similar case in the last week.
Do you agree? Did I miss something?
I thank colleagues Cyrus Golsaz, Roar Pedersen, Atul K. Taneja for their comments. They agreed with the findings.
I think it must be an unusual injury!
Stay safe !
