Actually, now that i look more closely at the prior XRs, the metal marker in the Rt acetabular liner seems to stay in position in the lateral viewsIs it possible the asymmetry was just positional at that time?
The knee XRs are mostly normal
There is rotatory subluxation of the Right hip acetabular polyethylene liner, medial to the prosthetic femoral head
I’m told he has no hip pain, but it seems he should be "clinking" every time he walks, with metal-on-metal of the displaced head
along the lateral cup
There suspect osteolysis of both acetabular components, but they are in stable anatomic alignment
The Rt Hip alignment looks normal in the AP, but the head seems posteriorly subluxed within the cup in the lateral view
I’ve never seen this….it was reported normal
It looked the same 7 years ago, reported normal
I think it was normal 11 years ago, I don’t have any earlier XRs
I’ve only seen a few cases of dislocated hip joint liners, it is a rare complication
What is so odd is that it seems to have been anteriorly subluxed 7 and 5 years ago, and now it’s
medially dislocated and rotated with metal on metal, yet he has no hip symptoms
I suspect his knee symptoms may be referred from the hipAlready read more than 100 plain films today…it’s one of those special days….first interesting one, had to share
Happy Monday!Hilary
