I realize I didn’t attach the reference I found (now that Diego Lemos just shared it with me) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6925612/
They have a section focusing on AMRI….curiously, the reference that focuses on meniscal root tear only mention posterior Lateral meniscal root tear (in the title)
The body of the discussion does not provide any details, just lists concomitant lesions that might be assoc’d with AMRI….and
mention "meniscal root tear" (without specifying medial or lateral)
There is extrusion of the medial meniscal body at the level of the MCL (white arrow) with reactive BME at the medial tibial margin.
The large radial defect at the junction of the PH medial meniscal root and the PHMM is obvious, clearly visible in the axial image (red arrow).
The ACL is intact…there is no anterior tibial translation at the lateral compartment
There is anterior translation of the medial tibia at the medial compartment…suggesting anteromedial rotatory instability
I understand that a PH lateral meniscal root tear can exacerbate rotatory instability in an ACL deficient knee
In the attached reference in the section on AMRI, the titles of the references do not mention the PH meniscal root (I’ve not yet pulled the articles)
In this case, the POL, OPL and SM appear intact, there is some fraying but no focal tear of the meniscotibial ligaments. Is there a reference for AMRI with PH medial meniscal root ligament tear?
Thanks
