Sorry for the too-many emails…..
I just realized I didn’t send the axial images…..these are the ones that show the hypothenar and palmar interossei enhancement
Flavio Duarte mentioned that he has frequently seen selective lumbrical enhancement and stopped trying to make sense of it or explain it.
I have a pdf of the article, if anyone is interested. There was a control group, though there was no mention of T1 or T2 muscle signal….which is unfortunate.

My question is regarding the 4th ray lumbrical and, to a lesser extent, the hypothenar muscle enhancement….without muscle atrophy and no muscle edema (granted, we only have PDFS not T2FS or STIR).
I read this article….which is presumably relevant….though I did not see any comment about T1 bright muscle atrophy or edema signal.
I can’t make sense of selective muscle enhancement without either.
It seems more than a coincidence that the lumbrical enhancement was reported with RA….
What do you know about this.
What are your thoughts?
I’ve yet to sign off the report…..
