So, not a gastroc strain. There is DVT of the intramuscular veins in the Soleus…which seems to be uncommon. My colleague referred to this as “Soleal Sinus Thrombosis”, which I’d never heard of. It seems that the fact that the soleal veins<radsource.us/deep-venous-thrombosis/> communicate with the posterior tibial rather than the popliteal vein might mean it’s less likely to propagate…I don’t know…I recommended follow up Doppler US for good measure.
As an afterthought…this being the worst year in the history of our lives…I’m wondering if I should suggest the possibility that this might be COVID related…isn’t that an endothelial disease???
I don’t want him unwittingly spreading his cooties if this is his only symptom.
Is it possible?
